ABP Newport Marathon Festival (Marathon, Half & 10K)

The ABP Newport Marathon Festival is a firm favourite in the Welsh running calendar, boasting one of the flattest marathon courses in the UK. Over 70% of all finishers have claimed a PB on a route that offers iconic landmarks, like the city’s Transporter Bridge and the stunning scenery of the Gwent Levels – with its coastal wildlife and picturesque medieval villages. Supporting half marathon, 10K and mile races means there’s something for every level of ability and ambition. The event returns for 2025 on Sunday 13 April.

Barry Island 10K

Sun, sea and sand provide the backdrop to the Barry Island 10K – renowned for its feel good atmosphere and varied route. Races start and finish at the iconic Whitmore Bay, which also hosts an exciting Event Village with live music, entertainment, stands and tasty street food. Relax on a deck chair post-run or enjoy an optional (but very much encouraged) dip in the sea on Barry’s golden sandy beach. The event takes place on Sunday 15 June in 2025.

Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K

The Porthcawl 10K is an exciting addition to the town known for its surf, sports and coastal walks. A summertime hotspot for both locals and visitors – Porthcawl is renowned for shining under the sun. The race takes in a number of landmarks and stunning seaside spots including Rest Bay, Trecco Bay, Coney Bay, the picturesque town centre, historic Grand Pavillion and the iconic Porthcawl Lighthouse. The event is back on Sunday 6 July in 2025.

Rabbit Run Wales

Rabbit Run Wales features a series of stunning trail races that offer the unique opportunity to run on the private grounds of the Merthyr Mawr Estate. Set on the South Wales coast, the Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve is a haven for wildlife and a trail-running paradise. Choose from 12K or 40K on Saturday 19 July 2025.

Brecon Carreg CDF 10K

The CDF 10K takes runners on a sightseeing tour of the Welsh capital, with highlights including Cardiff Castle, Central Square and the Principality Stadium. The iconic and historic event gives thousands of runners the opportunity to take to the streets of Cardiff on Sunday 7 September in 2025.

Cardiff Half Junior

The Cardiff Half Marathon is more than just 13.1 miles! Cardiff Half Junior kick-starts the event weekend on Saturday 4 October, offering a no-pressure, family-focused Fun Run, a Toddler Dash for those taking their first steps into physical activity and a Future Challengers race for talented young athletes and junior club runners.

Cardiff Half Marathon

The Cardiff Half Marathon has grown into one of the largest and most exciting road races in Europe. It is the UK’s second largest half marathon and Wales’ largest multi-charity fundraising event, as well as being a member of the SuperHalfs - a global series of the world’s most prestigious half marathons including races in Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen and Valencia. General entries for 2025 sold out within 12 hours of the event launching, but you can still secure a space to run on Sunday 6 October by registering to run for charity.
